Projections

The Projections page displays projected Snowflake credit usage and cost savings. It shows how much an organization is projected to spend on Snowflake with and without Warehouse Optimization over the next year.

Filters​

Filters adjust which data appears in the projections. By default, projections include all warehouses, accounts, and labels. Filters can narrow results to specific warehouses, accounts, or labels.

What Does Projected Credit Usage Show?​

The "Projected Credit Usage" section provides an overview of credit usage over the next 12 months, including projected usage with and without Warehouse Optimization and total projected savings.

Usage Basis​

Warehouse Optimization calculates projected credit usage based on past usage patterns. Three projection options are available:

  1. Linear Growth (Past 3 Months) — Reflects growth trends, positive or negative, based on credit usage over the past three months.
  2. Zero Growth (Past 1 Month) — Assumes no growth, using average usage from the past month.
  3. Zero Growth (Past 3 Months) — Assumes no growth, using average usage from the past three months.

Savings Basis​

Projected savings are based on past savings performance. The savings basis can be set to the last week, month, 3 months, year, or year-to-date.

Savings With Keebo​

This metric displays projected Snowflake credit savings over the next 12 months. The calculation multiplies projected credit usage by the projected savings percentage.

How Is Credit Usage With and Without Warehouse Optimization Compared?​

The Projections page compares future credit usage with and without Warehouse Optimization. This comparison is especially valuable during Snowflake renewals, as it shows how much Warehouse Optimization can reduce the next annual bill.

Credit Usage Without Keebo

This metric shows projected credit usage without Warehouse Optimization. The value can be manually edited if a higher usage is expected. It is based on the selected dashboard options and only includes usage from warehouses and accounts connected to Warehouse Optimization.

Credit Usage With Keebo

This metric estimates Snowflake credit usage with Warehouse Optimization based on the selected dashboard options. It updates automatically if the "Credit Usage Without Keebo" value is changed. The estimate reflects actual past savings without projecting future increases or decreases in savings.

How Are Annual Cost Savings Projected?​

The "Projected Annual Cost Savings" section converts the credit-based metrics above into dollar amounts by multiplying by the price per Snowflake credit.

Cost Per Snowflake Credit​

This is the cost per credit on which Warehouse Optimization bases projected annual cost savings. This value is negotiated with Snowflake. Enter or update it from General Settings to display savings and usage in USD.
